Tribal Data Centers, On-Site Power, and Selecting a Vetted Partner
Track: Economic Development / Energy
- Tribal Nations are exploring data centers as a new economic development opportunity—one that can complement existing gaming operations when paired with on-site power and district energy systems.
- This session examines how Tribes can host data centers that reuse waste heat to support casinos, hotels, administrative buildings, or other facilities, improving overall energy efficiency and project economics. Panelists will discuss how data centers can be integrated into microgrid/district heating and economic development strategies, while ensuring Tribal control over land use, energy, data sovereignty, and long-term benefits. Importantly, this will outline key considerations when engaging data center developers and behind-the-meter energy infrastructure strategies for quicker development timelines and “game-changing” revenue.
- Panelists: Ken Ahmann or Maggie Tallmadge, Colusa Indian Energy; Ryan Brook, Data Holdings (a Potawatomi Company)
