Renita DiStefano is the Founder, President, and CEO of Second Derivative, LLC, a Native woman-owned advisory firm that specializes in Information Technology and Cybersecurity services. An enrolled member of the Seneca Nation and proud matriarch of the Hawk Clan, Renita has forged a remarkable career at the intersection of technology, security, and Indigenous advocacy.
Renita is widely recognized as the first Native American women to hold executive-level positions as both Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Her leadership spans the development and execution of comprehensive business, technology, and cybersecurity strategies for medium to large-scale organizations, particularly those serving or governed by tribal communities.
Renita is frequently called upon to advise tribal nations on digital sovereignty, cybersecurity governance, and operational resilience. Renita holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and has earned numerous cybersecurity credentials including CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, CSOX, CMMC, and CJIS.
Renita’s career is a testament to her commitment to empowering Indigenous communities through technology leadership and strategic capacity building. She remains a trailblazer and role model, working tirelessly to elevate Native voices in STEM and promote digital equity across Indian Country.
