PRESIDENT SHANNON HOLSEY – Stockbridge-Munsee Community 

Shannon Holsey, born and raised in Wisconsin, is a member of the Stockbridge Munsee Band of Mohican Indians. Holsey has served as the Tribal President for the last 11 years, following 10 years as a member of the Tribal Council. Holsey grew up on the Stockbridge-Munsee reservation in Bowler, Wisconsin, and committed herself to advocacy of women and relatives, being good stewards of its economy, environment, and culture.

Holsey also serves her ninth term as president of the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, representing twelve-member tribes with a land base of about 1 million acres spanning 45 counties. She serves as a member of the Wisconsin State Legislature's Special Committee on State-Tribal Relations, NCAI Treasurer, Co-chair of NCAI Violence Against Women's Act Taskforce, Wisconsin's MMIW Task Force, and Harvard Provost's Council on Native and Indigenous Relations, DOJ Tribal Leadership Council Co-Chair, HHS Secretary's Tribal Advisory Committee.

Holsey received her bachelor's degree in business administration magna cum laude and master's degrees in strategic leadership communication from Seton Hall University, and human resources from Penn State University with distinction and an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She is a proud “ngok” auntie/momma to Rainer and Kayli.
